It is very upsetting for our country, that the most inspiring and the most giving personality left us in this manner.
Mahashayji has always inspired us with his legendary advertisements on the television, showing us that nothing is impossible in this world and age is just a number.
I still remember, when I was younger.
My family and me used to sit together and watch Television and every time, the MDH ad used to come up.
My father used to tell us proudly about the story of the King, “The King Of Spices”.
I still can remember the melodious background song of MDH ads; “Asli Masale Sach Sach! MDH”.
So,
Today we are going to get information about the success story of the MDH owner ‘Shri Dharam Pal ji Gulati’.
Who once owned a ‘Horse drawn Carriage (A Tanga) who he used to drive for his living, and now as of records, the operating income of his company is ₹ 2,000 crores.
While, the net worth of the CEO as of 2014 was ₹ 500 crores.
Modest Beginnings Of the MDH Owner
The full name of the founder of ‘MDH Masala’ is “Mahashay Dharam Pal Gulati” who’s also popularly known as ‘Masala King’, ‘King of Spices’, ‘Mahashayji’ or ‘The MDH Uncle’.
Mahashayji was born before the Partition of India and Pakistan.
He was born on March 27, 1923 in Sialkot, Punjab, Pakistan and he died at the age of 97 years.
His father’s name was ‘ChunnilalGulati’ who used to work in an organization, where he also had found a Masala Company and named it as “MahashiyanDiHattipvt. Ltd.” and so is the Long form of MDH Masala.
MDH owner Mahashyanji from his childhood, was not that much interested in the studies, so he first completed his fifth-grade education, and then joined his father in the masala Business.
This man has again proved that nothing comes in your way, if you want to become successful. It doesn’t matter, how much education do you have. But if you have dedication, consistency in what you’re doing, you can achieve your dream.
You just need to stay focused and keep working hard for it.
Coming on to the story, after the partition of India and Pakistan, Mahashayji with his family, migrated in India and then lived in a refugee camp in Amritsar.
Later, after the camp, Mahashayji decided to move to Delhi, in search of work for his living, but unfortunately, he didn’t have a place to live there as well.
So, he decided to stay at some relative’s place, and then. After reaching Delhi, he then used ₹ 600 Out of ₹ 1,500. (Which his father has lent him) to buy a ‘Tanga’.
Soon, after some months, he sold his ‘Tanga’ as he was not able to provide that amount of money to his family.
Mahashayji then brought a shop in ‘Ajmal Khan Road’ and restarted his family business of spices.
The new business was all doing good and he was finally quite happy for what he was doing, as it was sufficient to support his family financially.
But Mahashayji didn’t stop there, he then again rented a shop in Chandni Chowk in mid-1953.
Finally in 1959, Mahashayji started his own company (MDH Masala), when he brought some part of the land in ‘Kirti Nagar’ and from that moment he never turned back.
Now his company is worth thousands of crores and everyone praises him for his work.
The company (MDH Masala) out sources it’s products in more than 100 countries now.
Even at this age of 97 years, MDH owner Dharampalji ji regularly visited his factories and took all of the major decisions.
He’s also a very generous person who donated 90% of his earnings to charity.
He also ran a trust named “Mahashay Chunni Lal Charitable Trust” which serves to the society, they also have a 250-bed hospital which comes under this trust, other than all the schools they run.
From this story I just want to tell you guys that the dialogue from the movie ‘Raees’ is actually correct.
Which means “My mother used to say, that no Business is small in this world”, and it’s actually correct.
I know at times people blame us, laugh at us for what we are doing, but only successful people don’t care about it at all.
He/she always ignored these kind of people and started climbing his stairs of success.
